POWDER-COATING BENEFITS

Zinc-rich primer is considered to be one of the most effective anti-corrosive paint systems today. A proven track record that guarantees this application will extend the lifespan of the product. Any specific colour/finish can be applied over the primer, with a top coat finish. The thickness of zinc primer can be applied between 10 and 120 microns thickness. The greater zinc content results in longer corrosion resistance for the finished component. Prior to Powder Coating, all materials will undergo a pre-treatment process to make the product have a longer life and lower maintenance expectancy.

Powder Coating is a type of finish coating that is applied as a free-flowing dry powder. The main difference between Powder Coating and a conventional wet paint is that powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form. Powder Coating can finish virtually any metal and is suitable for both by consumers and industry. The powder is a mixture of ground particles of resin and pigment which is applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat between 200ºC and 240ºC. This results in a high quality, uniform and durable finish.

POWDER COATING

Powder Coating is currently the most popular form of finishing across manufacturing thanks to it’s big benefits over traditional paint. As powder coating processes have become more advanced, the number of industries and applications utilising it has grown substantially. Powder coating is an extremely durable and scratch resistant surface coating. It is pliable but hard enough to withstand impact without scratching and is the most popular process for finishing metalwork.

USAGE

Any metal product or part that can hold an electrostatic charge and can tolerate the high heat of curing can be powder coated. The cost common metals used are mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.

Appliances account for about 1/3 of all powder coated parts, making them the largest portion of the powder coating market. Powder Coating is popular with the appliance industry as it’s resistant to corrosion and abrasion, as well as aesthetically pleasing. Some of the most common appliances that go through powder coating services include vending machines, microwaves, refrigerators, washers, and dryers.

Powder coating is used on automotive industry to coat various components as well as a basecoat. This includes wheel trims and hubcaps, under-hood components such as radiators and shock absorbers, vehicle frames, and many items on public transport including handles and bars. Powder coating is especially useful in this sector as items are expected to last a long time.

Products made for outdoors need a coating that will be durable and resistant to the elements. Powder coating is the ideal choice to last much longer than traditional paint methods. Outdoor applications including outdoor furniture, sports equipment, signs, and agricultural equipment.

The architectural and construction market is using powder coating more than ever before. Powder Coating is perfect for outdoor venues and projects as it’s resistant to general wear and tear and rusting. Some of the most common construction projects using powder coating are building facades, fencing, windows and doors, and sport stadiums.
